Up a Creek Without a Paddle

I thrashed around in the water, trying to get my bearing as to where I was. My foot brushed an object underneath the dark blanket of the water. My first thought: it must be a shopping trolley abandoned to a water grave. In my experience, this is something you see pretty regularly in the rivers of large metropolis. It was instead a protrusion of cold rock into the beautiful waters of the gorge I was in. I was able to settle on this nature-made ‘chill-out spot’ and really take in the incredible surroundings I had found myself within… week 2 into the third year of ScotGEM and I was having my first experience of wild swimming.
